HMC Internship Programme: Nurturing Tomorrow’s Accounting Professionals

Some photographs capture a moment. Others capture a journey, a dream, and the possibility of a new beginning.

This photograph is one of those moments. Perhaps, someday, it will be remembered as a small part of a new chapter in the history of the Accounting Profession. There is a deeper story behind this photograph—a story of inspiration, learning, and possibilities. I will share that story another day.

Standing at the centre of the back row are Professor Dr. Shakhawat Hossain Sarkar, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, and Professor Dr. Prahallad Chandra Das, FCMA, Professor, Department of Accounting and Information Systems.

Standing beside them and sitting in the front are a group of ambitious young men and women from the AIS Department, 2020–2021 academic session. They are not simply students; they represent the next generation of professionals in the Accounting Profession.

Among this group, eight students completed a three-month internship programme at Hossain Mumlook & Co., Chartered Accountants (HMC).

For us, this was much more than an internship or training programme. It was a shared learning journey—an opportunity to learn together, exchange ideas, explore new perspectives, and grow together.

During these three months, we organized 22 training workshops, bringing together distinguished academicians and experienced professionals from renowned institutions, including the University of Dhaka and BRAC University, who generously shared their knowledge, experience, and professional insights with the students.

The initiative also taught us something valuable: when we create the right environment, learning becomes a shared experience, and growth becomes a collective journey.

Today, with the publication of their BBA examination results, we are especially proud to see the achievements of these young professionals.

Among our intern group:

🥇 1st Position: Ms. Kohinoor Akter Antora — CGPA 3.77
🥈 2nd Position: Ms. Joya Dutta — CGPA 3.75

Among the remaining six students, four achieved a CGPA above 3.60, while the other two also successfully completed their academic journey.

This achievement is not merely a personal success for the students. It is also a reflection of the dedication of their respected teachers, their university, and their families. For HMC, it is equally a moment of pride and happiness to have been a small part of their journey.
